About
I have always loved doing hair, but instead of taking a career in cosmetology, I went into nursing. After 20 years of nursing I began to feel burnt out. Through a lot of prayer I felt God call me into the hair industry. In 2014 I graduated from Tulip City Beauty College and went to work at a salon in Grandville, Michigan. After 5 years in Grandville, the opportunity arose for me to open up my own salon in Holland. December 13, 2019 Beautiful Me Hair Studio was established.

The Set Backs
Three months after opening, the salon was shut down due to Covid-19. In June, we were allowed to reopen and business was crazy. September 2020 I was blindsided with a breast cancer diagnosis. My cancer treatment consisted of chemo, a double mastectomy, and radiation. Business went from 90 mph to a screeching halt. I didn’t understand why God had me on this roller coaster, but I continued to have faith that God would use this diagnosis for good. During my chemo treatments I started researching wigs and the human hair industry.
The Wig Idea
During my chemo treatments I started educating myself with anything I could find on the wig industry. I could feel that God was going to use this experience to bring wigs into my salon so I could help other cancer clients. After endless amounts of researching I discovered how shady and unethical the human hair industry is and, I thought there has to be a better way. Following God’s leading, I purchased wig making courses and taught myself how to construct a wig. The next hurdle was sourcing my own hair and getting hair from a ponytail onto a wig cap. After countless hours, I came up with my own method of wefting hair. This has resulted in 3 different wig designs and customization to a client’s head. My mission is to provide ethical wigs with the capability of using people’s own hair, and overall helping women feel beautiful with dignity and confidence during their hair loss journey.
